Style:
A tall board shouldered man, who takes great pleasure in dressing in black robes to match his dark personality, Severus Snape makes for one very intimidating figure. His black robes often billow out behind him his as he strides unfazed by the groups of students in his path, Severus’s dark appearance adds to his foreboding personality. Along with his black robes Severus has a taste for smart well-tailored wizarding suits that have connotations of duelling robes.
Severus’s dark appearance adds to his foreboding personality. He has sallow skin, likely due to the long hours spent leaning over potions in the dark dank dungeons, this is also likely to atone to his long black greasy locks, which have afforded him many nicknames in the past. His hair falls in tatty strings around his face, it rarely occurs to him to actually cut his hair. His face is creased with stern lines, emphasizing his cold black eyes that often fix themselves mercilessly on a misbehaving student. The lines are etched upon his face, each a tell-tale sign of the burdens he’s carried over the years.
Severus’s most prominent feature is his large hooked nose, a feature that took many years for him to grow into. Underneath his eyes his are dark circles giving away the many hours he spends working or brooding rather than sleeping. The dark circles are the only sign that Severus perhaps has a severe lack of sleep, his mind and body manages to function perfectly well despite this.

Dislikes:
Strengths:
- Working as a double agent,
Weaknesses:
• His Trust In Dumbledore,
• His Love For Lily Potter,
• His Oath To Protect Harry Potter,
Best Memory:
Spending the long summers in the park with Lily Potter. The conversations about their futures and enjoying the sunshine. Those carefree days, which were filled with time spent with Lily Potter.
Mirror of Erised:
Severus wishes he could go back to his worst memory and change those moments that had parted Lily and himself forever.
Patronus: Doe
Boggart:
Severus’s biggest fear is that he will be unable to protect Lily’s son from death at the hands of the Dark Lord. His one aim in life is to protect her son, so that her sacrifice was not in vain. Not a day goes by where he doesn’t fear he will fail in his mission to protect the boy.
Dementor: The moment he called Lily Potter a 'mudblood' in those few moments he lost her for good.
Veritaserum: That he loved and always will love Lily Potter.
Personality:
Severus has a sarcastic side to him, he tends to deflect as much as possible through blunt comments and dry jokes. He has a habit of turning ones insults back onto the insulter, deflecting their comments with skill. He is very secretive, and prefers solitude. He has no choice but to be secretive, after all he is currently playing a very dangerous game; however he dislikes conversation and company preferring to be alone. He only speaks if he deems it necessary preferring to observe those around him. He has a tendency to stare down students and adults alike, and usually if he is asking a question he is searching their mind for an indication as to if they are telling the truth or not.
Severus has a strong presence that oozes authority; he only has to enter a classroom for the students to immediately quieten down. His control and authority is issued through the way he stands and speaks with precision. Bitterness has a strong hold on Severus, the constant bullying and abuse he suffered as a child caused him to retreat into further solitude. He’s shut himself off from the world of love and happiness only focusing on what must be done.
Severus has a strong control over his emotions, after all to be a successful Occlumens, this is what is required. He views displays of emotion to be a sign of weakness, keeping his cold demur strong.
Severus of course doesn’t have complete control over emotions, after all that would make him almost inhuman. He has a strong ability to love, and it’s his love for Lily that’s kept him going all these years. He also has a strong temper, usually brought on weak people who judge or pity him.
Sadistic, although he has supressed these tendencies for many years, it was his sadistic side that originally drew him towards the Dark Arts in the first place, destroying his relationship with Lily. Brave. Severus risks his life for the cause every day. He no longer fears death, merely sees it as a release from the pain and remorse he feels for what he’s done.

History:
CHAPTER ONE - The Start.
Severus’s early years where fraught with fear, loneliness and heartbreak. He was born into a household where his parents fought constantly. His father was a bitter man, frustrated or so Severus thought with his inability to provide well for his family and his inferiority against a wife and son who could perform magic when he could not. Severus spent many hours away from his home, dreaming of a world that would one day be his, of a castle where he would finally feel at home. He spent much of his time observing the muggle children in the local park, it was there he first saw her. He knew almost straight away she wasn’t like the other children that played there. She was different, she had magical skills too. It wasn’t long before he picked up the courage to speak to her. The two became fast friends; he took delight in explaining to Lily about the world waiting for them once they arrived at Hogwarts. He greatly disliked Lilys muggle sister, who often made fun of his poor clothing and the area in lived in, he couldn’t help it that day she snuck up on him and Lily, when a branch broke off from a tree hitting her on the head. Lily had blamed him for the accident, he had done it but the muggle girl had provoked him. He did feel some regret, though as lily didn’t speak to him for a few days. Those days dragged on ever so slowly.
Finally the time came for him to board the Hogwarts express, he spent the journey with Lily, the both of them talking excitedly about the things to come. Their conversation was interrupted by two arrogant boys, James Potter and Sirius Black. It was their jibes that christened Severus ‘snivellus’, it was just the beginning of a rivalry that was to last a lifetime. Severus was sorted into Slytherin, the house he had desired to be in for so long. Lily on the other hand became a Gryffindor, he was disappointed with this turn of events but the two still remained close friends.
He was made a member of the slug club along with Lily, he greatly enjoyed those hours spent in Professor Slughorns classroom with Lily and the other slug club members. His passion for potions was obvious being top of his class; he also had a great interest in spells and hexes, inventing a few of his own. He was influenced greatly by some of the older Slytherins, his interest in the dark arts ever greatening.
Severus’s distaste for James Potter ever greatened, he often feared Lily’s friendship with James friends would eventually draw her away from him, but she assured him to her dislike for the Potter boy. He knew that James fancied Lily, he made it obvious, perhaps that would explain why James spent as much time as he could picking on Severus whose close friendship with Lily was clear.
Then that fateful day came. The day where Severus’s life changed dramatically. He was reading quietly in the grounds when James and his gang of goons happened upon him. He tried to leave quietly he didn’t particularly like their unwanted attention; all the name calling and jokes were hurtful and only made his blood boil. He was walking away when he found himself tugged into the air, and turned upside down his books fell to the ground as he tried desperately to get his wand. He was embarrassed his pride hurt greatly as James revealed his underpants to the school. That’s when he heard her, her voice rang out in the crowd fighting for him to be let down. But it was too late the damage was done. Hot faced, he retorted back that he didn’t need a ‘mudbloods’ help. As the words fell from his lips, his heart filled with regret, she walked away from him their friendship and he died inside. No matter what he said to her he couldn’t make up for the words that he had uttered. Their friendship was gone. Lily had been the only part of him tethering him to a world of happiness and love. Once she left him, he only had the Dark Lord to turn to.
CHAPTER TWO - Growing Up.
Shortly after he graduated from Hogwarts Severus joined the ranks of the death eaters, during one of his missions for the Dark Lord he overheard the prophecy made by Sybill Trelawney. He reported what he heard to the Dark Lord, who after some thought made it clear to Severus as to which family he thought the prophecy referred to. With a heavy heart he arranged to meet Dumbledore desperate that he be informed as to what the Dark Lords plan where, he’d already begged the Dark Lord to spare Lily. His Lily.
His meeting with Dumbledore left Severus cold; he’d promised for the safety of Lily and her family his full cooperation with Dumbledore, thus becoming a double agent.
Then that terrible night came, as soon as Severus knew something was wrong he arrived at Godrics Hollow. The house was quiet, nothing stirred, there was only a blackened structure in the place of what was once a home. His heart failed as he slowly ascended the stairs, past the cold dead body of James Potter. With a deep breath his opened the door to the nursery, his body nearly collapsing as he’s eyes took in the body of Lily Potter. Her son sat crying in the cradle behind her. He sat there for gods knows how long; cradling her broken body crying silently for the love he’d lost.
Eventually he returned to Dumbledore, angry that he’d let this happen, that he hadn’t protected them like he’d promised. It was Dumbledore who convinced him that he shouldn’t let Lily’s sacrifice be in vain. He vowed to protect the boy, to spend his life working for Dumbledore, despised by the Order Members for once being a Death Eater, and hated by the Death Eaters for working with Dumbledore, even if they thought his loyalties lay with them.
CHAPTER THREE - The Beginning Of The End.
Snape first applied for the post of defence against the darks arts; however Dumbledore declined giving him the post of potions master and making him head of Slytherin house. He spent his years teaching the students and working under Dumbledore’s orders.
Before he knew it, it was Harry Potters first year, and what a year it was. The boy was rude, arrogant and had a blatant disregard for the rules. Just like his father. But he couldn’t help but notice the boys green eyes. Just like Lilys. Dumbledore had asked him to keep an eye on the new defence against the dark arts teacher, Professor Quirrell. It became obvious to Severus that the man wasn’t to be trusted and had an alternate agenda; he spent the year stopping the man from trying to steal the Philosopher's stone.
Much to his disgust Lupin was named defence against the dark arts teacher, after Professor Lockhart left. He was asked to brew the wolfsbane potion, a complex procedure but it wasn’t too difficult for Severus. The only challenge was in keeping the professors secret. He couldn’t help but stir with the information though, presenting students with the information to work it out for themselves. After Sirius Blacks escape from Azkaban he had a sneaking suspicion that it was Lupin who was aiding the criminal into getting into the castle. He made it his business to keep a close eye on the professor. Severus ambushed the two in the shrieking shack, he was ecstatic that he had caught the two; finally he had one up on them. His victory wasn’t to last long as Sirius eventually managed to escape.
During the triwizards tournament, Severus became aware that his Dark Mark was becoming more pronounced, Voldemort was making a return. He immediately informed Dumbledore of his concerns. Once Harry had confirmed Voldemort return, Severus re-joined the ranks of the death eaters under Dumbledore’s instructions, working for both sides.
CHAPTER FOUR - To His Final Fate.
Severus was not surprised when Narcissa Malfoy followed by Bellatrix Lestrange visited him at his home. He had had his suspicions for a while about Draco Malfoys engagements with the Dark Lord, which he himself later confirmed with Severus. He found he had no choice but to make the unbreakable vow, that if Draco Malfoy could not carry out the Dark Lords task, he himself would do it. Severus knew he would rather die than kill Dumbledore, therefore found the choice easy to make, he would be able to protect the Malfoy boy and when the time came he would meet his fate. Dumbledore, had other ideas after finding a horcrux Severus knew the headmaster did not have long, the curse in the ring was far too powerful and had already taken a hold on the wizard. With regret Severus promised that when the time came he would kill Dumbledore.

Each movement the potions master made was clean cut and swift, sharply buttoning each button on his robes up to his neck. His attention turned to the cuffs on his sleeves, cut sharply over his wrists in a diagonal shape; he snapped the buttons shut, in his usual morning ritual. The sun had yet to rise but his day had begun, the ever persistent need for potions meant he often found himself pouring over bubbling cauldrons when any other witch or wizard would be tucked up in bed. He however, did not mind, sleep was a luxury and the potions master found his mind was tuned to other things, turning that off was often a difficult and arduous task. Before the sun had even risen Severus had bottled and neatly stacked a fresh supply of Veritaserum, he’d been brewing for the past month, his stocks had been depleting somewhat with recent events. He had relabelled several new ingredients, and painstakingly stacked them alphabetically in his cupboard.
His appearance at breakfast was brief, after smacking an unsuspecting Gryffindor student around the head for shouting unnecessarily, with the latest copy of the daily prophet he left the hall. Classes continued with the same tone, the majority of students were unable to understand the subtle art of potion making, their clumsy hands destroying the ingredients provided through carelessly hacking at the items. It seemed the day would never draw to a close and indeed for Severus after the last dunderheaded student left his classroom the day was not over. Much to his annoyance he had yet another Occlumency lesson with Potter. The boy was lazy, arrogant and could not clear his mind, a weakness which ultimately would be the boy’s downfall. Severus was becoming increasingly impatient with Potter; his lack of concentration was causing Severus to get front row seats in the Potter chronicles, sentimental scenes often left Severus feeling slightly nauseous. The boy was weak. Just like his father.
With a flick of his wand, a hidden cupboard opened and from it drew a large pensive, placing his wand against his temple, a silvery substance emerged from Severus’s temple and he placed it into the bowl. This was a precaution he’d been taking since the first lesson, memories Severus would rather Potter did not see. Although Severus highly doubted the boy would be able to penetrate his mind, Severus was no fool; there would be no worse humiliation than James Potters son knowing his darkest secrets. His hands tightened around his wand at the thought, his dark eyes gazing down at the swirl of images that stirred in the pensive, a pair of green eyes flashing before him. With a flick of his wand the pensive drew back against the wall allowing more room for the lesson to take place, he refused to think of her, even if Potter had eyes that remarkably resembled hers.
He withdrew to his desk, picking up his quill he scratched at a piece of parchment jotting down several notes for tomorrows potions lesson, clearing his mind of any heartfelt thoughts that would threaten him in this evening’s lesson. The calming sound of quill to parchment, relaxed his mind as he waited for Potter to turn up. One thing Severus did not tolerate was tardiness; he did not like time wasters.
