Lord Voldemort has returned, or at least the public has accepted the news given the year prior. Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter have reclaimed their credibility in the wizarding world, the latter being given the title of "Chosen One" as he is now known to be the only person capable of defeating Lord Voldemort once and for all. But war is long and far off in the horizon for first preparations must be set. Dumbledore has entrusted Harry with the charge of attaining Professor Slughorn's trust for reasons he does not yet know, but soon will find out to be the last piece of evidence that the dangerous magic that is the creation of Horcruxes has given Voldemort the most extreme of powers; evasion of absolute death. Draco Malfoy has also been entrusted with a charge, to reclaim his family's stature from the shame brought by his father's imprisonment. He has taken on the task given to him by Lord Voldemort to assassinate Albus Dumbledore, leading to him be indicted amongst the ranks of the Death Eaters and given the dark mark. Severus Snape agreed with Narcissa Malfoy through the act of Bellatrix Lestrange encouraging to make an Unbreakable Vow to be certain Draco Malfoy doesn't fail and if he is incapable fulfilling the deed for him. Everyone has their own missions and goals in mind for this year, ones that will shape the future of magical kind in ways that no one can foresee. Deceit, lies, and backhanded work will be needed to achieve what must be done, the cost of which is dire. Students are left to choose a side, fear what may become of them, mourn lost family members, and prepare themselves for the point of no return.
